Your Father’s Commitment

“Listen to me, O house of Jacob,
    all the remnant of the house of Israel,
who have been borne by me from before your birth,
    carried from the womb;
even to your old age I am he,
    and to gray hairs I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
    I will carry and will save. ” (Isaiah 46:3-4)

Your Father is not the type to build something and walk away from it.  He is far more committed to you than you might realize. Sometimes it may not feel like it.  Sometimes we, like the remnant of Israel in this passage, don’t feel like God is present. The rod of discipline for the nation of Israel affected the righteous and the unrighteous.  It was an incredibly dark time beneath the captivity of Babylon. But God was not done; His eyes were not blind to His people’s anguish. So, He sent Isaiah to declare to them that their Father still sees them…that He has not forgotten that He gave life to them and carried them from the womb.  And what was the Father’s commitment to them…that He would carry them through to old age and gray hairs…

He made them…

Will bear them…

Will carry them…

And will save them.

His promise is no different to you.  Take a second to personalize this verse.  “He made ME…will bear ME…will carry ME…will save ME.”  He is committed to YOU. You know this to be true. The cross of Christ declares it so.  Once and for all. Every heartache…every trial…every burden you bear needs to looked at through a cross-shaped lense of your world.  You may not be protected from hurt and hardship…but the cross says in forever fashion that He made you…He bears you…carries you and saves you!  No matter what…He is committed to YOU.
