Let’s Love Missions Update

In 2012, several Churches of Christ in Donetsk, Ukraine came together and formed a Let’s Love Ministry; a charity with the purpose of meeting the physical, spiritual and emotional needs the orphans in the Donbas Region of Ukraine.

Please take some time to read the latest update from Dmitriy Grischuk at Let’s Love Ministry. To find out how you can get involved, please contact Doug Oakes or John Patterson.

Update from Let’s Love Ministry

The beginning of the year was cold and frosty in terms of weather, but full of wonderful opportunities to serve God and His children. I do not stop wondering at how many new opportunities God gives to those who seek and those who pray about it. Meetings with new people, Bible study, repentance and baptisms, Christian winter camps and many other things that God gave us as an answer to your prayers and our seeking.

I am infinitely grateful for your financial support and prayers. I am grateful to you, because you willingly become an instrument of God’s work in Ukraine – a country of thousand opportunities!

It is with good reason that in addressing you I used the word “partners”, which is derived from the word “part”. You are a part of work in Ukraine. We are a part of your current and future blessings: “I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:18-19).

I hope this news will encourage you and will make you certain, that every minute you spend praying for Ukraine, every dollar you donate, have their own special story in the lives of hundreds of people daily.

Sincerely yours, DG

During the last month with input of Let’s Love Ministry three souls joined the communities of Zaporizhia, Irpin and Kyiv. Vladimir, Larysa and Olya responded to the call to obey the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Children’s Camp in the War Zone

Our team conducted 2-day children’s camp in Stanytsia Luhanska (pre-war zone). It is with special feelings that we always visit the children in the war zone. Every time we introduce ourselves as Christians from Kyiv, people are always surprised at how somebody from this far away remembers them, knows about their problems. This time, apart from meetings with children, we helped two families to buy firewood for wintertime, and delivered several packages with medicaments to disabled people.

Natalia lost her husband and children. She is shell-shocked due to a shell burst in her house. She managed to hide in the corridor, when she heard the blast. The truckful of firewood we bought for her will last her half a winter, and then… “God will provide, of course”, she stutters hopefully as an answer to our unsaid question.

And the children have forgotten about war during these 2 days. They’ve forgotten about types of weapons. About the calibers of shots and blasts. And they found out that God loves them and, of course, He prepared gifts for them!

Christmas Camp in the Orphanage

Do you remember how it is written in the Book of Revelations about Pergamum: there Satan lives. In the orphanage we feel the weight both physically and spiritually. There we see torn souls, stained minds, shattered childhood, honor that is sold and drunk away. Also, there are LICE!!! But where there are bullets, there are also lice… And although a part of our team has already gone through this illness, we continue with prayer, with the Word and with hugs. The little prisoners of sin and death had three amazing Christmas days. Three days of prayers, Bible study, games, fun, songs and pure goofing around.

Does one need to be afraid of lice to tell about God’s love to a boy named Zyno? His parents attended a church. His father is a preacher in one of the denominations. The parents divorced. His father does not pay him any attention, although he continues to preach and lives not far from his son. His mother got together with a man who often beat Zyno, which led him to the street and then to the orphanage. The boy is familiar with the church, but disappointed in Christians… This is not an easy task for us to give him a new confidence in believers. But with your prayers and support we will overcome this also!

The Road to Church

5 boys from the orphanage have been attending the Kyiv community gatherings for a month now. We take them to the church in advance, prepare home-cooked lunch, we play, we pray, we say a short sermon. Then they join the “grown-ups” church. It is interesting to see their joy and enthusiasm as they sing Christian hymns with everyone, as they attentively watch as the church partakes in the communion. In the end of the gathering the church blesses the young guests in prayer.

  1. We communicate with youth and teenagers weekly through the ministries of Sokoly clubs, Molotalk English club, street outreaches and individual meetings. The Love to God through the love to the country, to society, to family and to yourself – that is the motto and the main theme of our ministry.
