Thank you so much for your interest in Westside’s Ministry Fair on March 31st! We know that God has blessed our church with men and women of all ages who have a deep love for God and a wide variety of spiritual gifts. God’s desire for our church family is that each of us would prayerfully consider how we can take our unique talents and passions and use them to share the Good News of Jesus and serve one another.
During our Ministry Fair, you’ll have an opportunity to discover how you can jump right in and get involved in Westside’s mission of Loving People to Jesus.
Consider these passages from God’s Word that teach us about the important gifts God has given us—and how he invites us to use them for his glory:
1 Peter 4:10-11 (NLT)10 God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. 11 Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.Ephesians 4:15-16 (NLT)15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.Romans 12:6-8 (NLT)6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
The elders and ministers at Westside believe in you, and we believe that God is calling all of us into a season of discovery. Discovering more about ourselves, our mission as a church, and the role that we can play in loving people to Jesus.
We hope you will take some time to discover your spiritual gifts. Please pick up your copy of the “Spiritual Gifts Survey” at Guest Central (made possible by LifeWay Christian Resources) or visit westsidelife.org/volunteer to access this resource online. This survey can be a good first step towards discovering some of the spiritual gifts God has blessed you with. We know it’s not perfect, but if you’re not too sure of the gifts God has given you, it’s a great place to start!
