Change of Plans—Services to be Online-Only Through March
On Friday evening, the elders at Westside Church of Christ made the decision to cancel our in-person Sunday morning worship services for March 15, 22, and 29, and to offer an online worship service instead.
We apologize for the abrupt change of plans since our last announcement. New information was made available to us that led us in a new direction. Earlier this week, our state and local health officials directed large gatherings to cancel or postpone through the end of the month, and we believe following this direction is in the best interest of our church family and our greater community. Loving our neighbors means doing everything we can to protect and honor those who are the most at risk in our communities.
This decision was not made lightly, but we believe it is the right one. We prayed over this situation and sought God’s wisdom on how to best proceed. We appreciate your patience with us as we strive to make the best decisions based on the information we have available.
What happens now?
Sundays Mornings: There will be NO IN-PERSON WORSHIP SERVICES or classes on Sunday March 15th, 22nd, and 29th. We will continue to worship together in an online format. See below for details on our online worship service.
Life Groups: The decision to pause or continue Life Groups will be up to each individual group. Groups that would like to continue should take extra precautions regarding food preparation and hand washing in order to promote good hygiene.
Wednesdays: There will be NO DINNER and NO CLASSES on Wednesday nights for the remainder of March.
Women of Worship: The Ladies’ Bible Class will NOT MEET for the remainder of March.
Springfest: We have made the difficult decision to CANCEL OR POSTPONE this year’s Springfest Youth Rally. Bryan Fojtasek will be communicating with our youth ministry families about this in the coming days. Our Youth Ministry candidate Ryan Leachman and his wife Jordan planned on being here for a visit that weekend, but we may need to reevaluate that. We will update our church and especially our youth ministry families as soon as possible.
Baby Shower: The Valencia baby shower will take place from 2-5pm.
Online worship—Sunday mornings at 9am
We invite you to join us for an online worship service on Sunday mornings at 9am. Our praise team and ministry staff will be broadcasting a time of singing, prayer, and teaching.
To participate in our online worship service, you can visit WestsideLife.org and click on “Watch us Live,” or use the Live Stream button on the Westside Church of Christ mobile app (available in app stores)
The sermon will be available through WestsideLife.org/media or in the media section of the mobile app. Just tap or click on the “Bible It” series for the most recent message. This message will be available for your viewing at any time, even if you can’t join us live at 9am.
We encourage you to take communion together with your family, spend some time in prayer, and make the most of the situation as best as you can. In the coming weeks, we plan on making individually wrapped communion supplies available to anyone in our church family who would like some.
As a reminder, Online Giving is available through our website and mobile app. Checks may also be mailed to Westside and cash/checks may be dropped off at our church office Monday-Thursday from 9am-12pm and 1-5pm. We appreciate your continued support of Westside and our mission of Loving People to Jesus, even when we are not meeting in person.
