You’re In Good Hands

“Woe to him who strives with him who formed him, a pot among earthen pots!  Does the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’” -Isaiah 45:9

Do you trust what God is doing to form you and shape you?  If not, take a look around at His creation. Even with what mankind has done to destroy and mar the beauty of God’s creation, there are still so many priceless works of art to be seen in His showroom.  I find this evident when I go into my backyard in the spring. Just a few short months ago, several tiny bulbs were planted in the ground and already there are dozens and dozens of 4’ tall snapdragons of all colors blooming throughout our landscape.  It’s such a simple example…but it’s a beauty that draws me closer to the One who instilled such care and design into every aspect of His creation.

When you look at creation, what do you see?  Do you see the design? Do you see the care and intention of our Creator?  If God gives attention to such tiny details, what might you think His level of concern is for those created “in His image?”  In Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5, He reminds us that even sparrows and the lilies of the field are under the watchful eye of the Father…He feeds the sparrows and clothes the lilies.  If God takes care of those, how much more will He take care of you?

I have two thoughts to leave you with:

  1. We ought to acknowledge that God is really good at what He does.  He is a Master artisan. When He sets His hands to work on us…good things will be the result.  We can trust that!
  2. He’s proven that out of all of the priceless works of art in His creation…He cares for you and I above all others.  He has placed His image in us…He gave His Only Son to restore and redeem us. He has shown infinitely more care in what you are becoming than any snapdragon in my backyard.  If we find beauty in the snapdragons, how much more beauty will we find in what He is doing in you?!

So, rest easy today…let the Potter have His way with the clay.  You are in good hands!
