New Classes from Barna Group

Life is getting complicated.

And everything seems like it’s moving at a faster pace–except your ability to keep up. If you’re like most people, you have smaller chunks of time and more information coming at you than ¬†ever before. So where can you turn for real insight and livable wisdom?

FRAMES is a series of minibooks and short videos that address the critical issues of our day and equip you to live a more meaningful life in the midst of complicated times.

New Classes Begin March 18th at Westside.

Westside will be offering 3 new classes: Multi-Careering, Fighting for Peace, Schools in Crisis and Sacred Roots. Each class will run for 4 weeks, and then start over again at the beginning. You will have the opportunity to attend all three classes over the next 12 weeks (starting on March 18th).

Keep reading to learn more about the three classes we’ll be offering!

1. Multi-Careering

LEAD A LIFE THAT MEANS SOMETHING. This FRAME is for anyone navigating the ‘new normal’ of careers. You want a career that’s meaningful. Whether in a coffee shop or an executive office, in a school or hospital, you long to do work that matters. Yet you won’t always find that work in the 8 to 5, which means you have to find it elsewhere. Sometimes following your calling means taking a risk, getting creative. Sometimes it means multi-careering. Whether you’ve had a handful of careers in your lifetime or a handful of careers this month, consider Multi-Careering your guidebook to find work that matters—work that leaves the world in a better place than you found it. Multi-Careering is part of the FRAMES series –¬†short yet meaningful reads on the top issues facing us in today’s complex culture. A new kind of book brought to you by Barna Group, to help you read less, and know more.

Multi-Careering will meet in room #515 starting March 18th.

2. Fighting for Peace

WHEN IT COMES TO VIOLENCE, HAVE WE GONE TOO FAR? Fighting for Peace is for every parent, student, and leader uncomfortable with violence as the ‘new norm.’ ‘Blessed are the peacemakers,’ Jesus said. But in the face of the horrific realities of school shootings, war, bullying, and domestic abuse we feel helpless to address such overwhelming violence. Certainly, we can pray for peace. But maybe it’s time to starting fighting for it, too. Fighting for Peace is a thought-provoking and practical guide for answering God’s call to become peacemakers and championing the kind of peace that can reshape our world. Fighting for Peace is part of the FRAMES series – short yet meaningful reads on the top issues facing us in today’s complex culture. A new kind of book brought to you by Barna Group, to help you read less, and know more.

Fighting for Peace will meet in room #517 starting March 18th.

3. Sacred Roots

WHAT IS THE POINT OF CHURCH? REALLY? Sacred Roots is for anyone questioning the value of church to their everyday life. ‘Why should I invest myself in something I’m not sure does any good?’ Many people today are asking this question about the church. Maybe you’re asking it too. ‘Does church matter?’ is an important question. And to answer it, perhaps we need to go back to where it all began. The early church was a powerhouse of communal love, self-giving, and service. So how do we rediscover these sacred roots? And how do we recover the purpose of the church in all its beauty? Sacred Roots offers four personal and communal shifts critical to being the kind of church that transforms people—and renews the world. Sacred Roots is part of the FRAMES series – short yet meaningful reads on the top issues facing us in today’s complex culture. A new kind of book brought to you by Barna Group, to help you read less, and know more.

Sacred Roots will meet in room #519 starting March 18th.
